The destination

Chartering a yacht to Nassau

Nassau is the Bahamian capital, and it is the destination for guests who want both sides of a trip: private yacht days on clear water, then restaurants, resorts, shopping and nightlife ashore. Rose Island and Paradise Island are a short cruise from the harbor, and Atlantis, Baha Mar and downtown Nassau give the evenings somewhere to go.

Nassau is the vibrant capital of The Bahamas, a short crossing from Miami where colonial architecture, world-class resorts and reef-lined beaches share the same coastline. Anchor off Paradise Island, dine in the harbor, and use the yacht as your private base for shopping, diving and long lazy afternoons at sea.

Prime Experiences plans the whole crossing from Miami, captain and crew, marina slips, provisioning and shore-side reservations, so the only thing you decide is where to drop anchor next.

Crossing and travel times are estimates only. Actual timing depends on the yacht, departure point, weather, sea conditions, route and the itinerary you choose. Your captain makes the final call on the day.

You do not have to spend the crossing at sea. Depending on the destination, the yacht and the itinerary, guests can fly into the Bahamas and have the yacht experience begin there. It is a popular choice for travelers who would rather spend their days exploring islands than covering distance. Tell us your dates and we will confirm what is possible for your group.

Fly-in availability depends on the yacht, the destination and the itinerary. We confirm airports, timing and logistics with you before anything is booked.

Miami to Nassau yacht charters, FAQ

Are fuel, marina and permit fees included if we depart from Miami?

No. On any charter departing Miami for the Bahamas, including the Exumas, fuel, marina and dockage, cruising permits and customs or immigration fees are not included. Your concierge confirms these costs in writing with your itinerary before anything is held.

Are fuel, marina and permit fees included if we depart from Miami?

No. Our all-inclusive Nassau rates apply to charters that begin in Nassau. If your yacht departs from Miami and crosses to the Bahamas, fuel, marina and dockage, cruising permits and customs or immigration fees are not included and are quoted separately in writing before your trip is confirmed.

What can you do in Nassau during a yacht charter?

Yacht days to Rose Island and nearby anchorages for swimming and snorkeling, beach time on Paradise Island, historic downtown Nassau and Bay Street, resort experiences at Atlantis or Baha Mar, and dinner ashore. What is included on your trip depends on the yacht and the itinerary we build together.

Can you visit Atlantis during a yacht trip?

Guests frequently combine a Nassau yacht charter with time at Atlantis on Paradise Island. Marina slips, dining and resort access are subject to availability and are arranged separately from the charter itself.

Can we combine Rose Island and Nassau?

Yes, that is one of the most common Nassau itineraries: a yacht day at Rose Island, then back toward Nassau or Paradise Island for the evening. Rose Island is a short cruise from the harbor.

Can you fly into Nassau and begin the yacht charter there?

Often yes. Many guests fly into the Bahamas and start the yacht experience there rather than making the crossing. Availability depends on the yacht and the itinerary, and we confirm the specifics before booking.

Is Nassau good for families?

Nassau suits families well because there is plenty to do both on the water and ashore, including beaches, resorts and excursions. Overnight guest capacity depends on the yacht's sleeping cabins.

Is Nassau better than Bimini for a longer trip?

Generally yes. Bimini is small and water-focused, which makes it ideal for a short escape. Nassau has more variety ashore, restaurants, resorts and nearby islands, so it holds up better over several days. For a longer, more remote adventure, the Exumas are the next step.

How long is the crossing from Miami to Nassau?

We estimate roughly 5 hours from miami at a comfortable cruising speed, but this is an estimate only. Crossing and travel times are estimates only. Actual timing depends on the yacht, departure point, weather, sea conditions, route and the itinerary you choose. Your captain makes the final call on the day.

How many guests can come on a Nassau trip?

Overnight trips typically carry 2–8 guests, since everyone needs a cabin. Day charters in Miami carry more, but multi-day charters are limited by sleeping capacity.

What is included in a Miami to Nassau charter?

Your charter includes the yacht, licensed captain and crew, and a planned itinerary. Fuel for the crossing, marina slips, provisioning, customs fees where applicable and crew gratuity are quoted separately so you see exactly what you are paying for.

Do I need a passport?

Yes. The Bahamas is an international destination, so every guest needs a valid passport. Your captain handles the vessel's clearance process on arrival.

How far in advance should I book?

Multi-day trips take planning: marina slips, provisioning and crew scheduling. We recommend reserving 4 to 8 weeks ahead, and earlier for holiday weekends.

Lina and Mario were great for a group trip we had. We cruised around for a bit and did jet skis. They hosted our group for a birthday trip for my brother. I would definitely charter a boat again.
